Dr. Scawthorn has more than 30 years of experience assessing risk and developing integrated mitigation programs for natural and technological hazards worldwide. Clients include FEMA, OES, the World Bank, Global 1000 corporations and insurance companies. He led the technical team developing the HAZUSĀ® MH flood model. He has served on oversight committees for NSF-sponsored earthquake engineering research centers and on editorial committees for premier technical journals. He has authored over 150 journal and conference articles and recently edited the Earthquake Engineering Handbook.
