The International Conference on Open Risk Analysis (ICORA) will be held on Friday-Saturday, June 12-13, at the Cripps Conference Centre at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge, Cambridge, U.K. The dates for ICORA closely follow the Second Annual Global Earthquake Model Annual Meeting (Munich, 8-11 June, 2009), and precede the Second International Workshop on Disaster Casualties (Cambridge, UK, 15-16 June 2009). ICORA participation will include researchers from Europe, the USA and Japan, from a variety of hazards, risk and finance backgrounds – please see the attached preliminary program.
The first Workshop on Open Risk Analysis (ORA) was held at the California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, California in February 2007, with attendance from over 50 experts from six countries. The Workshop was the founding meeting of the Alliance for Global Open Risk Analysis (AGORA), in which current trends and future research needs for Open Risk Analysis were identified. Presentations from that Workshop are available at www.risk-agora.org. Since that time, AGORA has grown to a membership of several hundred people active in the field of ORA.

The Conference will be held in the Cripps Conference Centre at Magdalene College, University of Cambridge. It will be hosted by the University’s Centre for Risk in the Built Environment, under the joint chairmanship of Prof Charles Scawthorn (ret., Kyoto University) and Prof Robin Spence (U. Cambridge). The There will be a small Workshop fee of £100 to pay for meals during the meeting (lunches, dinner on June 12th), and administrative support. Cambridge is 55 miles north of London with rapid train services every half hour. It is also within easy reach of London Stansted Airport.
Limited funding is available for overseas participants.
